The family-owned METAD agricultural group are specialty coffee pioneers with all coffee hand-picked, sorted and washed before drying on raised beds for up to 3 weeks. They produce both washed and natural processed lots with each a trademark representation of floral and fruit-forward Ethiopian coffee.
The Hambella farm covers 200 hectares, employing over 700 people during peak harvest season, 70% of which are women. Curiously, the coffee from Hambella is grown in the Guji zone, but is then processed across the district border in Gedeb, Gedeo zone.
